Background
In order to improve the problem of air pollution in automobiles, the Taiwan MOENV not only continuously encourage the manufacturers to produce environmental-friendly vehicles, but also disclosed information on the relative pollution emission ranking of vehicles for public reference.
Each year, the Green Vehicle Guide will grade and rate the vehicle models sold in the previous year withtheir air pollutants, noise and fuel consumption data (published by the Bureau of Energy, Ministry of Economic Affairs, R.O.C.), and produce the "Environmental Friendliness Assessment Scale for Motor Vehicles", with the higher the grade representing the friendliness of the environment.
In order to disclose information on new models in real time, the Green Vehicle Guide will conduct a monthly assessment of the environmental friendliness of new models that have obtained air pollutants, noise and energy consumption verification certificates in the previous month, and regularly update the information on selected green vehicle models.
The Taiwan MOENV calls for people to travel or to work in an environmental friendly and healthy manner, such as walking, riding bicycles or travelling by mass transport, and to maintain environmental quality by selecting environmental-friendly vehicles with low pollution emissions, low noise and low fuel consumption, if they are in need of using vehicle.
